The On-the-Go Worker’s Survival Kit

Commuters walking on sidewalk next to buses and transport vehicles on the street.

If you’re a busy person, it is safe to assume that you’ve left something at home, and had to cancel or rearrange schedules because of it. If you also live in an area where the car is the best mode of transportation, making a survival kit can save you a great deal of headaches.

What is a survival kit? A survival kit is a package or group of necessities used in situations when other items are not easily accessible. In other words, a kit of tools that can save you a lot of time and money. Putting a survival kit in the trunk of your car will hopefully make your busy life more manageable.

Here is a list of items for your survival kit:

  • Glass bottle with water. Do not use plastic, as it compromises the water when heated
  • First Aid Kit. Also include various OTC medications (e.g. allergy, indigestion, pain-relievers, etc.)
  • Feminine Items for women (e.g. hygienic, stockings, small cosmetic kit, bobby pins)
  • General Hygiene Kit (e.g. toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, etc.).
  • A set of business clothes with shoes
  • A set of casual clothes with shoes
  • Stationary or Cards (e.g. Happy Birthday, Thank You, etc.)
  • Envelope and postage stamps
  • Safety Pins
  • Flashlight
  • Packaged Snacks (e.g. nuts, protein bars, powered mix, etc.)
  • Thin Blanket
  • Gift cards (Note: Keep only a few at a time)
  • Baby Wipes to clean hands or dirty shoes
  • An extra USB thumb drive

Though this list may seem a bit much, a busy person will appreciate all the preparation, especially when the items come in handy. This survival kit can prevent a busy person from going on time and money-wasting emergency runs to the store!
